ARTS & CULTURE

Juliet writes reviews, interviews and features about the arts, artists, books, heritage, and culture, at home and abroad.

She has a degree in History of Art (with a dissertation on art holography) and has interviewed contemporary artists ranging from Paula Rego and Rachel Whiteread to Maggie Hambling and Jock McFadyen. Artist Ben Johnson has noted that being interviewed by Juliet for the Guardian brought him insights into himself that changed his art.

Juliet’s exhibition reviews span Rembrandt at the Rijksmueum to homeless artists at the Royal Academy, and she has followed in the footsteps of the masters including Leonardo in Italy and Van Gogh in London.

Writers, directors and performers feature among her many artistic interviewees: Ben Okri, Julia Donaldson, Richard Eyre, John Sessions, Tom Fletcher among many others.

Juliet has written on history and heritage both in the UK and around the world, where she has been fortunate to experience a multiplicity of different cultures (for more on which, please see Travel Writing).
