HEALTH & SOCIAL ISSUES

Juliet writes on physical and mental health, from eating disorders, eye disease, and dementia to cancers, patient confidentiality and Covid-19.

She is always interested to talk to doctors, medical researchers and other experts about their work – as well as to patients and the public. With a part 1 degree in Natural sciences, Juliet generally finds she has just enough (and just little enough) knowledge to ask the right questions for her readers.

Juliet was shortlisted for a Guild of Health Writers award for a piece in the Times on TB and the BCG vaccine.

Her 13-part radio series, The Health Show, made for the digital station of Age UK, examined one health condition per programme. Juliet wrote and presented the series, discussing diagnosis, treatment and prevention with leading medical experts.

Recent articles for the Guardian have covered areas where health and social issues meet including innovative ways of enhancing daily life for care home residents, the reality of family courts, and Medical care on the streets of locked-down London.

Juliet is committed to presenting to the public the evidence (or sometimes lack of it) behind accepted and novel practice.
